Terra queimada

O fumo e as brasas em chamas ascendem ao céu ao encontro dos ventos que os levarão para outros lugares, sem escolher as populações que irão afetar.

À medida que centenas de incêndios se propagam todos os dias por todo o mundo, quer seja devido a condições climáticas quer devido à ação do Ho, a Terra está a ser posta à prova e as populações questionam-se sobre o porquê do súbito aumento destas condições climáticas catastróficas.

Os incêndios florestais têm sido uma ocorrência natural desde há milhões de anos, mas as queimadas convenientes e maliciosas da Amazónia ou as tempestades de relâmpagos são dois exemplos das muitas causas dos incêndios. A frequência e a intensidade dos incêndios aumentaram nas últimas décadas e os cientistas atribuíram, em grande parte, a responsabilidade às alterações climáticas. Este fenómeno, que se refere a alterações a longo prazo no clima da Terra, inclui mudanças na temperatura, na precipitação e nos padrões meteorológicos, que têm um maior impacto na frequência e intensidade dos incêndios florestais e no ambiente e saúde humana. O fumo sufocante e as cinzas dos fogos transportados do Canadá cobriram grandes extensões de terra por toda a América do Norte, tapando o sol e criando uma atmosfera marciana em grandes cidades como Nova Iorque e Toronto. É claro que as elites dos EUA, como os nova-iorquinos, culparam os vizinhos do Norte pelo seu incómodo, esquecendo-se dos incêndios contínuos na Califórnia e noutros estados e do facto de os EUA serem um dos maiores contribuidores para as alterações climáticas.

O mundo continua a estabelecer objetivos insustentáveis e irrealistas de reduzir os efeitos das alterações climáticas através da implementação de medidas alternativas à dependência de carbono. Como as economias mundiais se têm baseado na carbonização, ou seja, no petróleo, a infraestrutura para acomodar a nova energia solar e eólica não está disponível devido ao impasse na ligação da rede de cabos às subestações e aos transformadores existentes. Pode demorar até oito anos para que sejam feitas essas ligações e as infraestruturas não são construídas com a rapidez necessária para as receber. Os promotores de energias renováveis estimam que a espera poderá ser de dois anos nos EUA e de 15 anos no Reino Unido até poderem ligar-se e acompanhar a mudança na produção de eletricidade. Esta é, naturalmente, uma boa notícia para a Arábia Saudita e para outros países produtores de petróleo, que poderão continuar a manter as populações do mundo reféns durante décadas.

Enquanto as campanhas dos ambientalistas e dos líderes mundiais vomitam as suas cinzas sobre o clima, a realidade é que nenhuma das suas promessas será cumprida porque o mundo não reside num único local e as vacas não se importam com o local onde o metano é produzido.

Enquanto governos e ativistas continuam a pontificar sobre o clima porque isso os faz dormir melhor à noite, as florestas vão arder, vão surgir novos desertos e os rios vão secar, porque Deus criou um planeta imperfeito que está a ser agravado pela ganância e ignorância dos homens. Devemos estar preparados para condições mais difíceis devido aos padrões de temperatura e precipitação. As ondas de calor e as secas serão cada vez mais comuns, criando condições ideais para um ambiente e uma saúde humana apocalíptica. Emboras estas afirmações pareçam terríveis, são uma realidade que confirma a falta de mitigação por parte de uma população mundial que sabe o que precisa de ser feito.

Pelo menos, o nascer do sol e o pôr do sol estão mais intensos e bonitos. Certamente que alguém escreverá uma música sobre isso e o/a fará sentir melhor.

Scorched Earth

Smoke and flaming embers rise to the sky meeting the winds which will carry them across the earth to other places, not choosing the populations they will affect.

As hundreds of fires propagate each day across the world, whether as a result of climatic conditions or man-made, the earth is being challenged and populations are questioning why the sudden increase in these catastrophic climatic conditions. Forest fires have been a natural occurrence for millions of years, but convenient and malicious burning of the Amazon or lighting strikes are two examples of the many causes of fires. The frequency and intensity of the fires have increased in recent decades and scientists have attributed responsibility in large part to climate change. This phenomenon which refers to long term changes in the earth’s climate includes changes in temperature, precipitation and weather patterns which have a huge impact in the frequency and intensity of forest fires and impact the environment and human health. The choking smoke and ash from firebrands being carried from across Canada covered large swaths of land across North America covering the sun and creating a Martian-like atmosphere in major cities like New York and Toronto. Of course, the USA elites such as New Yorkers blamed the neighbors to the north for their inconvenience, forgetting the continuous burning of California and other states and the fact that the USA is one of the biggest contributors to climate change.

The world continues to set unsustainable and wishful targets to reduce the effects of climate change by implementing alternative measures of reliance on carbon. Because the world’s economies have been based on carbonization, meaning oil, the infrastructure to accommodate the new power from solar and wind is not available because of gridlock on the connection of the network of cables to existing substations and transformers. It can take as long as eight years to make connections and required infrastructures are not built quickly enough to accommodate. Developers of renewable energy estimate that the wait could be 2 years in the USA to 15 years in the UK before they can plug in and keep pace with the shift in electricity generation. This of course is good news for Saudi Arabia and other oil producing countries who will be able to continue to keep the populations of the world hostage for decades to come. As campaigns from environmentalists and world leaders spew their ash about climate, the reality is that none of their promises will be kept because the world doesn’t reside in one location only and cows don’t care where methane is produced.

As governments and activists continue to pontificate about climate because it makes them sleep better at night while forests will burn, new deserts rise, and rivers will dry because God created an imperfect planet which is being made worse by the greed and ignorance of men. We should be prepared for more challenging conditions because of temperature and precipitation patterns. Heat waves and droughts will be more common, creating ideal conditions for an apocalyptic environment and human health. While these pronunciations appear to be dire, they are a reality confirming the lack of mitigation by a world population that knows what needs to be done.

At least the sunrises and sunsets are more intense and beautiful. Surely someone will write a song about that and make you feel better.
