Toronto police issues public warning after possible coyote bite in East York
Toronto police have issued a public safety warning after what they describe as a possible coyote bite in the city.
It happened Wednesday near an apartment building in the city’s East York area, where police say an eight-year-old boy was bitten by an animal while riding his bike.
Police say the boy believes it was a coyote, and he told officers the animal was foaming at the mouth.
The boy has been given a rabies vaccination as a precaution, and police say he’s showing no signs of the disease.
They’re urging people to report any incidents of wild animals behaving strangely to the province’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry.
The city plans to hold a “coyote information session” at the Scarborough Civic Centre on July 9.
