Protesters rappel from Ironworkers bridge in attempt to stop tanker traffic
Seven climbers rappelled from Vancouver’s Ironworkers Memorial Bridge Tuesday morning in an act of protest against the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion.
They were suspended high enough to allow regular traffic through, but low enough to block any tankers moving to or from Kinder Morgan’s Westridge Marine Terminal, said Alex Speers-Roesch, the head of Greenpeace Canada’s oil campaign.
