Ontario Education Minister\u00a0Stephen Lecce\u00a0is set to hold a Tuesday afternoon news conference amid tense contract talks with the union representing most of the province’s public high school teachers.<\/p>\n
Lecce is set to speak with reporters\u00a0around\u00a03 p.m. ET<\/strong>, and CBC Toronto will carry his announcement live in the video above.<\/p>\n Members of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (OSSTF) are planning to hold a second one-day school\u00a0strike\u00a0Wednesday if no deal is reached between the union and the government on Tuesday.<\/p>\n High schools run by\u00a0several school boards across the province will be closed on Wednesday if the strike goes ahead, including the Toronto District School Board.<\/p>\n The province is also locked in labour talks with two other major teachers’ unions.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, elementary teachers are\u00a0ramping up their work-to-rule campaign, saying the teachers they represent will no longer\u00a0plan any new field trips or distribute letters or memos from schools and boards.<\/p>\n Ontario English Catholic teachers are also\u00a0moving closer to a potential strike.<\/p>\n CBC<\/p>\n
