{"id":23343,"date":"2019-01-04T13:24:45","date_gmt":"2019-01-04T18:24:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mileniostadium.com\/?p=23343"},"modified":"2019-01-04T13:24:45","modified_gmt":"2019-01-04T18:24:45","slug":"a-new-years-eve-mexican-fiesta-in-oshawa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mileniostadium.com\/local\/comunidade\/a-new-years-eve-mexican-fiesta-in-oshawa\/","title":{"rendered":"A New Year\u2019s Eve Mexican Fiesta in Oshawa\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For the most part,\u00a0New Year\u2019s Eve\u00a0played out at the Northern Portugal Cultural Centre (NPCC) in Oshawa the same as it did at hundreds of banquet halls across the GTA\u2014a full house of well-dressed people, too much food, too much drink, lots of dancing and a Champaign toast at midnight.\u00a0To spice things up the NPCC threw in sombreros, pi\u00f1atas\u00a0and tequila\u2014now you have a NYE Mexican Fiesta!\u00a0<span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span>Since 2014,\u00a0the NPCC has\u00a0been taking their\u00a0New Year\u2019s Eve\u00a0guests on an exciting\u00a0trip around the world.\u00a0To date, the party organizers, Cristina\u00a0Galr\u00e3o\u00a0&amp; Steve Rocha have made 5 trips\u00a0including\u00a0Las Vegas, Midnight in Paris, Bollywood, Polynesia\u00a0and Mexico.\u00a0Steve, who also acted\u00a0as the tour guide, kept everyone entertained with Mexican-themed games which included trivia and a (very funny) Mexican Hat Dance competition, giving away prizes to the winners. After dinner\u00a0Mexican Folklore Dancers by Diva Diverse\u00a0took to the dancefloor\u00a0and\u00a0put on a show for the guests.<span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span>As with any good Portuguese\u00a0festa\u00a0(Mexican themed or not) food is an important part of the evening. From the appetizers to the midnight seafood buffet everything was perfect\u2014always spectacular and\u00a0always\u00a0prepared in-house by a team of volunteers led by Carlos Dias, Maria Ara\u00fajo, Laurinda Vieira and\u00a0Carminda\u00a0Pereira.
