Part of TTC subway Line 1 to be closed Saturday, reopen Sunday

Subway commuters can take a little bit of comfort this weekend, with the TTC cutting back on a scheduled closure.

The closure scheduled for Line 1, between Sheppard-Yonge and St. Clair stations, will proceed Saturday as planned. But the subway will reopen for Sunday, one day earlier than scheduled.

The TTC is encouraging passengers to use the University side of Line 1, as shuttle buses won’t be running on Yonge St. as is normally the case during a closure. Instead, the TTC will be relying on additional bus service on all major east-west routes to Yonge-Sheppard, York Mills, Lawrence and Eglinton stations.

The Bayview and Davisville buses will extend to St. Clair station throughout the day, and the 61 Avenue Rd. North and 512 St. Clair streetcar routes will also run more frequently.

The TTC will also beef up service on the 97 Yonge route and the closure is due to work on the Eglinton Crosstown LRT, as well as track work.
