Body washes ashore near Bluffers Park Marina, police say

Toronto police are investigating after a body washed ashore at Bluffers Park Marina in Scarborough on Sunday morning.

The death is being treated as suspicious, police said.

Police were called to the scene near Brimley Road S. at 9:05 a.m. Officers have cordoned off the area, which is at the foot of Scarborough Bluffs, to allow police to investigate.

Body was decomposed, police say

Const. David Hopkinson, spokesperson for Toronto Police Service, said police are releasing few details. Police have not said whether the body is of a man or woman, adult or child.

“Although we are investigating it as suspicious, we don’t know what caused the death,” Hopkinson said on Sunday.

“We treat all deaths as suspicious. We are investigating until we can find what the cause of death was.”

Hopkinson declined to say who found the body.

The dead person is in a state of decomposition, police said.
