2 York police officers among 7 arrested for various charges including drug trafficking

Two York Regional Police officers are among seven people arrested after a 10-month investigation, the force said Wednesday.

Const. Richard Senior, a 14-year-police veteran of the force, was charged with 30 criminal offences including trafficking cocaine, attempted armed robbery of a quantity of cocaine, assault, obstructing justice and weapons charges. He was also charged with the theft and illegal possession of a York Regional Police shotgun, interfering in the prosecution of provincial offence notices under the Highway Traffic Act and the disclosing of confidential police information.

Const. Timur Timerbulatov, who joined the force in 2015, was charged with breach of trust and unauthorized use of a computer not for a police purpose

Timerbulatov, 36, has been suspended with pay, York police said in a news release.

In addition, police have charged:

  • Catherine Petrolo, 36, with obstruction of justice and breach of trust by a public officer;
  • Jean Christie, 68, of Quinte West, with conspiracy to traffic cannabis, possession for the purpose of trafficking, and weapons charges
  • Sherry Wafer, 44, of Toronto, with conspiracy to traffic cannabis;
  • George Papoutsos, 43 of Richmond Hill, with conspiracy to traffic steroids and trafficking steroids;
  • Fabian Wills, 45, of Markham, with uttering a forged document.

Senior worked in the force’s uniformed patrol and community response unit, and will be suspended with pay if he is released on bail, police said.

“This was a difficult investigation, however, we are committed to upholding our values of integrity and accountability,” Chief Eric Jolliffe said in the news release.

A York Regional Police officer named Richard Senior appears on the Sunshine List for Ontario employees who make more than $100,000 a year. He is listed as having earned $113,654.24 in 2018 and $110,029.19 in 2017.
