Police said they got their first call about this at about 11:15 p.m. on Thursday. Based on the information in the call, officers had been searching the Britannia area west of downtown and asked people living there to check their properties for anything suspicious.
An alert went out to mobile devices before 4 a.m.
Spokesperson Const. Martin Dompierre said the child was found “in good health” around 9:30 a.m. on Friday, after an officer found a person they’d been looking to speak to on a street in the Britannia area.
That person is now a suspect and is being interviewed by police, Dompierre said.
The child was sent to the hospital to be checked out.
